In a letter dated January 30, 2026, signed by Mukama Gideon, Incharge of Kiyunga HCIV, the district government expressed concern over reports that some community members were being asked to pay for services that should be free.
“We have received complaints about community members being charged money to receive medical attention, and this practice is illegal,” the letter stated.
The directive orders staff to immediately cease all extortion practices, warning that any violations would lead to disciplinary measures.
The move underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring accessible and free healthcare services in public facilities, protecting patients’ rights, and promoting quality healthcare delivery across Luuka District.
